Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 6, 2026
RepLab ("the app") is developed by Jose Ortega ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: your data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud. We don't collect, transmit, sell, or share anything.
Data the app stores
RepLab stores the following information on your device (and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud database):
- Workout data — routines, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, body weight entries, workout dates, durations, and personal records.
- Heart rate data — if you grant permission, the app reads heart rate samples from Apple Health (recorded by your Apple Watch or other connected devices) for the time windows of your workouts, and stores session summaries (average, maximum, and minimum heart rate) alongside your workout log.
- Preferences — settings such as your weight unit (kg/lb) and default rest timer.
RepLab has no servers of its own, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
iCloud sync
When you are signed into iCloud, your workout data is synced to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it is backed up and restored automatically if you replace your phone. This data lives in your personal Apple account, is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, and is never accessible to us. If iCloud is unavailable or disabled, the app stores everything locally on your device only.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
- RepLab requests read-only access to heart rate data. It does not write any data to Apple Health.
- Heart rate data is used solely to display workout intensity and recovery insights to you inside the app.
- Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never shared with third parties, and never transmitted off your device, in accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
- You can revoke access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → RepLab. The app continues to work without it.
Apple Watch
The optional RepLab watch app exchanges workout data (exercises and logged sets) directly with your iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity. Nothing is transmitted anywhere else.
Purchases
RepLab Pro subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
Rest timer alerts use local notifications scheduled on your device. No push notification service is involved, and no data is sent anywhere to deliver them.
Data retention and deletion
All app data lives in the app's local storage and, when iCloud is enabled, in your private iCloud database. Deleting the app deletes the local copy; the iCloud copy can be removed in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. We hold no copy anywhere, so once you delete those, recovery is impossible — consider this before deleting the app.
Children
RepLab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone (of any age — we collect nothing).
Health disclaimer
RepLab provides general training guidance based on published exercise-science research. It is not medical advice, and the app is not a medical device. Consult a qualified professional before starting a training program, especially if you have a health condition.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that version ships.
